MONOGRAPH – MARCO PIETRACUPA

Marco Pietracupa was born in Brixen, Sudtirol, Italy and moved to Milan in the beginning of the nineties where he attended the Italian institute of photography and started to publish his works in art, fashion and portrait fields.

SHAPESHIFTER is a journey through archival material, mostly unpublished, which traces the Artist’s shots presenting them to public through unexpected combinations and a new key of the interpretation, with the collaboration of Virginia Devoto. There are three themes that run like a common thread work, the forest understood as a human habitat and forest composed of faces and bodies, human constellations and animals laid bare without delay, skin that shows in its many facets. Alongside these engages the third issue of technical material portraits, cool counterpoint, almost disturbing. A circle of images that begins and ends with the organic representation of nature, even when it is an artificial nature. The book is designed by Studio Dallas and accompanied by texts by Sara Dolfi Agostini, Francesco Tenaglia and Virginia Devoto. The volume is produced by Marsèll, EDIT BY YARD PRESS.
